It also talks about pushing ourselves further and not taking the easy way out. I found this piece of writing to be kind of boring. The subject that they Rich is talking about could be interesting, if written in a different way. I had a hard time not zoning out while reading, making it harder to understand as well.

In The Knowledge of American Culture, an article about a best selling book by Hirsch, talks about basic knowledge Americans should have about our culture. This mostly includes facts about American history. Hirsch puts this knowledge at the same level as the alphabet and above learning about homemaking and income management. While I agree it is important for American children to learn about their culture, I would not put it above the alphabet. I have to disagree with Hirsch, which made this article more interesting to read.
